【Global Xiaomi HyperOS Only】
【Global Community Only】
Xiaomi devices by default come with a locked bootloader, users cannot normally flash the system partitions and thus the new images. If you want to flash, or want to replace the existing software, you need to first unlock the bootloader of your device. To unlock, please go to new.c.mi.com/global/post/710306 and follow the instructions. To ensure a safe and stable experience, the unlocking permission and process will be available only to certain users after they upgrade to Xiaomi HyperOS, you can learn more here: new.c.mi.com/global/post/673501.
This guide will help you discover more about HyperOS bootloader unlocking conditions, see here when you can unlock the bootloader of your device and when you cannot (given you have been granted access on the community).
You can unlock the bootloader if
- You have a global (non-Mainland China) device and your device has an official global rom installed.
- You have a global Xiaomi Account (an account that was registered outside of China).
- You have not yet unlocked three Xiaomi devices with your account (only three devices can be unlocked in a year with one user account).
Please note
- The global unlocking system does not require you to have a level 5 community account (Pro Bunny), you can apply even if you are on level 1 (Baby Bunny). Just make sure your account has been active for more than 30 days.
- After getting the community’s unlock permission, you are advised to wait at least 2 days before unlocking, otherwise the unlocking process may fail.
- If you buy a global device in Mainland China, which has an official global rom installed, you will not be able to unlock its bootloader with Global Community’s permission. You need to register for a Mainland China Xiaomi Account and apply to the Mainland China Community.
- Global rom indicates MI, IN, EU, ID, RU, TW, TR, JP and other official non-Mainland China (CN) roms. You can check your OS version: Settings » About device » OS version.
- If you have a global account and a global device with a global rom installed on it, and still cannot unlock the bootloader (given access already), please send a dm and report to me.
