Themes APP Got Blocked by Google Play Protect

Google Play Protect frequently adds rules to detect new types of abuse in Androids apps. During a recent rule update, Google Play Protect incorrectly flagged the Xiaomi Theme Manager application. This issue is now resolved.

Update: August 14, 2022

This alert is no longer issued and we are working together with Google to identify the cause of the issue.

If you still see the alert, but have not yet disabled the Themes APP, here’s what you can do

  • Open Google Play Store.
  • At the top right, tap your profile photo.
  • Select Play Protect and open Settings.
  • Turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.
  • Go back to Play Protect and turn the switch back on.


The alert shouldn’t show up after a new scan.

Please note that this issue is already reported to the concerned department and will be rectified very soon (analysing).

Temporary solution to get back Themes APP, if you have disabled it already

  • Go to Settings » Apps » Manage apps.
  • Tap in the top right of the page (More options).
  • Tap Reset app preferences.
  • Tap Reset apps.


Reset app preferences
You will not lose any app data. This will reset all preferences for

  • Disabled apps
  • Disabled app notifications
  • Default apps
  • Background data restrictions for apps


Note

  • You need to give permission to some apps after resetting app preferences.
  • If the home screen does not have app drawer, it will be restored to the original position; otherwise, it will be restored to the app drawer after restoration.
